Title: To reduce the speed of Global Warming
Choice: Project Work Task 1


I have chosen the development of countries around the world- (especially the larger ones with higher percentage of industrialisation) and their efforts to reduce the speed of global warming or even alleviate the problem itself. I have chosen this topic as I feel that as the countries around the world modernise rapidly, we are actually neglecting our surroundings and Earth herself. We are extracting oil and coal faster than it can replace itself such that natural gas and oil can last up to an expected 50 years only. The polar ice caps are melting due to the trapping of carbon dioxide gases produced by combustion of fossil fuels. I feel the need to see an improvement in the way countries are doing to manage some of these situations that are becoming more and worse. Steps have been taken but more can be done. This development has so far contributed to global warming being slowed down, which is important as if the global warming is too sudden, it will have adverse effects on ecology and man (freak weather will cause farmers to lose crops). Slowing down global warming has allowed people as well as nature adapt to the changes slowly though not very well. The development has also caused the rise of new industries, eg. Solar power panel industry, giving the people monetary benefits.


The momentum of this development can be maintained by a higher awareness in the private sector, governments as well as the countrymen to play a role in slowing global warming or even through the further development of new products that can help allay the problem. The possible future benefits to the community are that the environment does not get affected, weather in a country does not keep changing (freak weather) and that living expenses might be lowered.

Feasibility- This project topic is very feasible as this is a current and realistic problem that has come to the world’s attention. The project does not really need much manpower or expenses and is safe and is easy to get participation ship as everyone knows of the topic well. This is a fairly general topic that can be done.

Manageability- The project does not take much time as plentiful of information is readily available for reference or use. Surveys if needed can be done over the internet which makes data gathering faster and less labour-intensive. The project is fairly simple to explain to and grasped. This project is hence doable and can be done well.

Accessibility- Data is readily available for use from the internet or first-hand data, whether from surveys or an expert’s commentary can be obtained and is within our means. Reviews, studies, researches, analysis or summaries can be done easily with the available information and they are usually fairly simple to be comprehended. Not many obstacles are found when doing research on the topic as data is easily accessible.
